Two tablets together form the complete Apri Birth Control medication, rose and white tablet.
Rose tablet is referred to as the active tablet and takes a major part in the action on the body of the individual. It is made up of desogestrel, ethinyl estradiol, Aluminium Lake, polysorbate 80, pregelatinized starch, vitamin E and povidone.
White tablet is an inactive tablet, it does not contain either desogestrel or ethinyl estradiol. Its major components are lactose anhydrous, microcrystalline cellulose and pregelatinized starch.

Dosage
Apri works on a 28 day cycle. Generally instructed procedures to take Apri are:
a) Day 1 start
It refers to start of medication on the first day of the menstrual cycle. From the first day in the cycle the rose coloured tablet is to taken for the next 21 days. After the 21 days, the rose tablet is stopped and white tablet is administered, for the next seven days till the end of the cycle. After the end of the cycle and on the 29th day new cycle of the medicine is started.
b) Sunday starts
In this method Sunday marks the reference point for the course. The medication is initiated on the first Sunday after the periods start or on the day if the period starts on Sunday. Again like the above method, rose tablet is continued for 21 days followed by 7 days of the white tablet and then restart the course.
The basic care should be taken that no dosage should be lagging by more than 24 hours. Before starting the course of the Apri, be sure that the last active tablet for the previous medicine was taken at least 7 days prior.
Side effects
There are high numbers of side effects and unwanted effect on the body when you take any contraceptive pill. Apri Birth Control is not an exception either. The major and most common syndromes observed after usage of Apri include the following:
a) Cramps increase drastically in the first month of the usage.
b) Effects on breasts include enlargement, swelling, tenderness and pain.
c) Smoking along with the use of the drug can initiate cardiovascular problems at a higher rate.
d) Depressive and more active mood swings are observed.
